STONE HOUSE ON OLD RUINS FROM SCOTLAND

Stone house on the old ruins of Scotland

This stone house was erected in 1732 without the help of any mortar, only stone. Architectural Studio WT Architecture took up its update. They decided to minimize to intervene in the original appearance of a stone house, only to complement it wood paneling and glass. Even a crack running along one of walls, designers decided to leave unchanged, and this part of the house use as a courtyard. Such a gentle approach to renewal allowed to maintain historical charm the buildings.

With the help of glass and wood, the old ruins turned into a residential a modern house that shows a brilliant combination of eras, styles and contrasting materials. Two buildings unite glazed living-dining room with panoramic views to the coastal line. There is also a kitchen on the ground floor, games room, bedroom and several restrooms. Floor above Four bedrooms, a library, a study and several bathrooms.

Almost 300 years ago, a Scottish writer visited this place. James Boswell, where he spent a lot of time. These ruins became for him favorite place on the island. No wonder, it’s a peaceful place able to carry away from a hectic worldly life. Perfect alchemy!
